Here at Oaktree Lakes, when you’re working towards something as big as preparing a lake for March 2026, to enable us to give our customers a good experience, it’s easy to get caught up in the to-do lists, the logistics, and the sheer scale of what’s ahead. But sometimes, the best way to stay focused is to step back—just for a moment—and remember why you’re doing it in the first place.
That’s exactly what we did today - pre Christmas fish, well for an hour!!!
We’d been walking the banks, talking through the next section we want to clear. The winter growth has started to tighten its grip, the water levels are shifting, and we’re mapping out everything: access paths, swims, snag points, overhanging branches, and how the lake will look once the real work begins early next year.
But amidst the planning, the tape measures, and the scribbled notes, there’s the lake itself—calm, quiet, and impossible to ignore.
So we gave ourselves ten minutes.
Ten minutes to cast a line.
Ten minutes to breathe.
Ten minutes to remember the joy behind the project.
The rods went out more for the soul than for the catch, but as always, the water had a way of rewarding the pause. It’s funny how even the smallest bend in the rod can reset your mind. Those few minutes reminded us of why we’re putting in the hours to prepare this place—because in March 2026, we want others to feel this same peace, excitement, and connection.
After that short break, we went straight back into planning with clearer heads and fresh energy. Sometimes you need moments like that: not a day off, not a long session—just ten minutes with the water.
One cast. One breath.
Then back to the mission
