January Update on Progress!
January 6, 2026

Happy New Year to everyone! 🎉

What a start to the year it’s been — a chilly one to say the least, with temperatures dropping to -5! ❄️ Despite the cold and that wind feels even colder , we’re still moving full steam ahead and getting Oaktree Lakes ready for our March bookings and our opening date.

The lakes haven’t been used for many years, so you can imagine we have had a lot to do over the months.

Over the past weeks, we’ve made great progress removing most of the dead trees from the lake and only a few more to go, and what a difference that’s already made.

There’s been plenty of hard graft involved (including some knee-deep moments wrestling with trees!). Now our focus has shifted to shaping and improving the swims, working progress!!

It’s really important to us to work with what we have and keep the lakes looking as natural as possible. Nothing goes to waste here — the trees we’ve removed have been recycled and chipped, and they’re now being used as the base for the swim beds. Sustainable and practical, just the way we like it.  We even had a visitor, the Robin even came to take a look and see if it could get a meal or two.

The cold weather has definitely meant plenty of coffee breaks ☕, but we’ve been lucky that our trusty excavator 🚜 — which is probably older than me — hasn’t missed a beat, even in the freezing temperatures.

Lots more to do, but we’re excited about how everything is coming together and can’t wait to welcome you to the lakes soon!

I will keep you updated on our progress 👀
